I'm so glad to have found the Bak Kwa King's website and offering of their Awesome tasting Bak Kwa!!  

The journey all began after spending a wonderful 2 weeks overseas on vacation in Singapore with the wife and kids.

Up to that moment, I had been very oblivious to Bak Kwa until the day my wife went out to Chinatown and bought a few pounds of the stuff and brought some back to the hotel.  My kids and I were literally impressed with this tasty snack that we decided to bring some home to the USA.  Everything was smooth-sailing until we got to customs at SFO.  Yes, they confiscated the 2 pounds we had in the suitcase including the ones that were commecially packaged in sealed plastic baggies- 

No Mercy those guys, I tell ya!!

I was disappointed and also somewhat relieved at the same time .  They just took my tasty snack, but good thing I didn't walk away with a fine.  

The next day, I was desperately searching online for stores, specialty shops, in and around the bay area including Chinatown but found nothing until I discovered the Bak Kwa King.  I decided to give them a try.  What have I got to lose, right?

Boy was I impressed when I finally got the Bak Kwa.  Shipping was fast and when I tore open the box, it was gift wrapped and had a golden "Thank You" sticker to keep the wrapping together.  I felt like I was receiving a gift in the mail.  The Bak Kwa itself was sealed in plastic.  

From the looks of it, I knew that there was alot of care put into this from the time it came out of the oven until the time it was packaged and sent out the door.  

Now the verdict:

Taste: 
Delicious, fresh, very soft and not too sweet with a nice texture.  Just like eating "Candy Meat".  

Great for: 
Adults, Kids as I can attest, the 1lb I ordered (around 12 pieces) only lasted a day.  The Kids just devoured almost the whole thing.  Currently the Bak Kwa comes in Pork, but I'm hoping that Beef will be added to their menu as well.

I emplore everyone to try them out and you will definitely be impressed.  

Bak Kwa King- You can guarantee me a customer for life!!  

Thank you for satisfying my family's insatiable appetite for this delicious snack!!  I hope you can keep your business running for as long as I still own my taste buds.  =)

Bak Kwa King has the best bak kwa!  I buy it to store in the fridge and eat it with everything.  It's great as snacks for the kids, healthier than junk food.  It can be packed for lunch with some rice, add some broccoli and edamame and viola, a balanced meal!   There is the traditional way of eating it sandwiched between bread.  It tastes great cold or warm.  My personal preference is warmed up in the microwave - 20seconds per slice.  Enjoy!

Must try for bakkwa aficionados everywhere!!!

What a find for bakkwa lovers like myself!  I lived in Hong Kong for several years and became addicted to the Singaporean-style jerky, known as bakkwa, sold by Bee Cheng Hiang.  When I returned to the U.S., I searched high and low for an authentic vendor of this Singaporean delicacy, but to no avail... Until a few weeks ago.

The pictures displayed on the Bakkwa King website showed a very authentic-looking product, so I saw no harm in giving their bakkwa a try especially after I learned that the proprietor lives right here in the San Francisco Bay Area.  I received my order within a week and was quite impressed with the packaging and product.

The bakkwa arrived sealed in plastic, wrapped in white butcher paper, and then packaged in a delicate red gossamer pouch to celebrate the impending Chinese New Year.  Believe me, this packaging was pretty enough to present as a gift to friends or family members.

Now for the taste... The bakkwa was delicately flavored with a nice balance of sweet and savory while the texture was soft and tender.  Since I prefer a little crispiness in my bakkwa, I heated the slices in the microwave for 25-30 seconds to release the meaty juices and add some chewy crispiness.  It's absolutely heavenly!!!

If you are a fan of authentic bakkwa, you HAVE to try Bakkwa King's offering!!!  I am hoping that they will diversify their product line beyond pork to include chicken and beef, but the pork will always be my favorite!!!

As good as it gets! my wife and I have ordered and eaten through 5 lbs. over th past month and are ready for more.  We discovered this wonderful delight through some friends who had also ordered from the Bak Kwa King and shared some samples with us.  the texture is so "melt in your mouth" good. unlike the pork jerky you find in the asian markets, this does not contain all that pork juice and artificial looking color, and chewy fibers.  This acutally tastes like real BBQ pork and if you put it in the toaster oven for 2 minutes, it's like butter.  My mouth is watering just writing this so i'll have to run now and help myseld to another serving.

Simply yummy and delicious - 5 stars! :)

I have searched high and low for something similar for sale in the streets of San Francisco Chinatown, but could not find any.  You would have thought that some Chinese person would be selling pork jerky on the streets here, considering that this is the second largest Chinese enclave in the US, yet I couldn't find any.  So, I decided to place an order with Bak Kwa King, and to my delight, the product was very well presented, and tasted just like how they prepared it in Malaysia/Singapore.  

I have no hesitation in recommending this product for those of us here in the US who yearn for some genuine bak kwa like the kind they sell on the streets 'back home'.
